Study Break!

So, the semester is beginning to end which means lots of tests, papers, and projects!! I’m in the middle of studying for a Children’s Ministry and Christian Theology exam and my mind keeps wandering to all the things I’d rather be doing! This weekend has been very productive…I spent time with friends, my boyfriend, my boyfriend’s family, and I was able to do school work, study, relax, and spend time on the phone with my family!

On another note, I’m the maid-of-honor for my best friend’s wedding, and there are so many fun things coming up for that! I’m preparing her bridal shower, which will take place in two weeks, and I’m really excited about that. And this coming weekend is her Engagement Party!! We were just talking about some of the details over lunch, and I’m so excited! Hopefully the weather will be nice and warm, though, because it’s going to be outside at Highbridge Pavillion! Either way, it’ll be a ton of fun!

Well, the books are calling my name…time to be a student so that I can get some good grades this week!

Spring Break ramblings…

Being from South Florida, I have the privaledge of spending my spring breaks in the sun! This year is a little different in that I didn’t bring any friends home with me and I am helping my parents pack up our house. See, I’ve lived in Florida my entire life, but dad just got a job in Tennessee, so my sister and I are home helping prepare the house to put on the market. Of course, I still make time to sit by our pool everyday, work on my papers and study, and spend time with family and friends on top of everything else! So much change is going on in my life right now, but I must say that I’m excited to see where it all takes me and my family. I still can’t believe that my Junior year is coming to an end and that I’m going into my last semester of classes before student teaching! College years go by so fast!! Well, I have a few more days left of spring break, and I’m enjoying every minute I have with my family together in our home. Once classes start back again on Tuesday, it’s basically a race to the finish line! Anyways, time to get some sleep before meeting a friend for breakfast in the morning!

I’m going to China!!!

Well, one of my life-long dreams has been to teach in China. I’ve grown up with the culture my entire life because my grandparents were missionaries in Hong Kong, and that’s where my mom grew up! Anyways, I applied to participate in a teaching program in China in December and was accepted to the organization as a teacher. The next step was how I was going to raise the money needed. Asbury provides the opportunity for students doing summer missions/ministry to apply for the Asbury Initiative Grant. I felt God telling me to persue this option, and so I filled out the application and prayed earnestly. Just last week, I received my acceptance letter for receiving the grant!!! God is so good! I will be teaching English as a Second Language to middle school Chinese teachers for 6 weeks this summer, and now that I have received the grant, the entire trip will be covered and I will be receiving a stipend! I couldn’t ask for more! God has definitely answered several prayers through this…and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to serve him in China!
